Shimla is  the SUMMER CAPITAL of British India and now a day's the capital of Himachal Pradesh is famous for its tourists attractions , fairs , food and many more things . Shimla is adorned with natural beauty of hills , greenery , and snow .

The Town Shimla was founded by Britisher's in year1819 after the Gorkha war  , at that time the place was popular for temple's of Hindu God's . But in  year 1822 first British ( Scottish civil servant PRATT KENNEDY) constructed a summer home . Since then it is named summer capital . During British Raj govt. officials , army officers , merchants came to get relief from high heat of the plains .

1. JAKHU HILL

 This hill is at the height of 8,000 feet from the sea level . The hill at the top is adorned with SHRI HANUMAN  JAKHU TEMPLE . The temple has a  giant statue of Lord Hanuman of height 108 meters that is visible from other parts of shimla  . The place has it's Religious importance too,  according to the local's at this hill lord Hanuman rested on his journey to find SANJEEVNI BOOTI for lord Lakshman during RAMAYANA .   The hill also has monkeys that can steal  your belongings ( water bottles, bags etc) . 

2. BANTONY HILL

                                      

  The bantony hill is  at the height of 7,200 feet from the sea level and named on  lord Bantony .  The hill is crowned with KALI BARI TEMPLE and  the BATONY CASTLE  , these two places are most attractive places on  this hill  despite of intense peace and  calmness .  The temple was constructed by the local Bengali's residing in the town in 1845 .  Bantony castle was  constructed in 1880s  and named after Lord William Beresford and was later sold to the  Maharaja . 

3. INVERAM HILL

   Inveram hill is at height of  2,380 feet from the sea level.  The main tourists attraction on this hill are STATE MUSEUM and BIRD PARK . The state museum showcase historical collection of   pahari paintings ,  traditional customs and jewelry ,  wood carvings , weapons and armors .  This state museum aims to preserve the tradition and culture of Himachal Pradesh . 

   4. OBSERVATORY HILL

 Observatory hill with the height of 7040 feet from the sea level is among one of the highest hill's in Shimla . The hill is famous for the key attraction called IIAS (Indian Institute of Advanced Study) building or VICEREGAL LODGE  , the building is well maintained by green and peaceful lawns  .  The building was  constructed between 1884 and 1888 , this serves as the summer  residence  of the British viceroy  of India . The architecture  of building was prepared by HENRY IRWIN .

5.PROSPECT HILL 

  Being at the height of 7070 feet from the sea , the hill offer beautiful panoramic view  of mountains , villages .  Despite of such heart meeting view the hill has other tourists attraction also KAMNA DEVI TEMPLE  and  THE ARMY HERITAGE MUSEUM  . Kamna Devi temple  remain busy during festival's like NAVRATRI because visitors have a strong belief that there wishes will get fulfilled and they will receive a lot of blessing's from the goddess , apart from religion this hill offers glamorous view of Himalayan hills. On other hand the ARMY HERITAGE MUSEUM  shows rich  legacy and  customs of Indian army .  

6. SUMMER HILL

Despite at a height of  6,950 feet ,  summer hills are crowned with  HIMACHAL PRADESH UNIVERSITY    the university has a lushy green and attractive campus . The hill is also home for variety of  trees (  pine , oak , cedar ,maple , walnut ) . Activities like hiking , trekking ,  paragliding  can be performed  . Shimla government also focuses on environmental and tourism  conservation policy ( forest conservation policy , waste management policy, eco- tourism policy ) .

1. CHRIST CHURCH 

The Church is located  Just at distance of 5 km from Shimla  .

The christ church in Shimla  is one of the most beautiful churches among the India. The church is oldest church in India and is protected under the Himachal Pradesh Ancient and Historic monuments and Archaeological sites and remains Act 1976 .It was constructed in 1857 for Anglican  British  community in Shimla , the credit of such a beautiful  architect goes to Colonel J.T.Boileau   . The church also has stained glass windows among which one of the window is dedicated to  William Prinsep a British Administrator who  contributed his way to the study of Indian culture and customs . 

2.THE MALL ROAD

Mall Road is among one of the famous and oldest Indian street having its own legacy and importance . 

The Mall road was constructed back during the British colonial period for all social and day to day exchanges and activities . For a tourist coming to visit Shimla should have space for Mall Road in his/her list  . Mall road is famous for shops that  sell's  local and traditional items like jewelry, handicraft, cloth , and decorative items . Food enthusiast's experience a different connection with the place because of the cafes and hotels that offer Himachali and International cuisine .  

3. TOY TRAIN

Toy Train journey is among the most loved and unforgetable  experience on the trip to Shimla . These Toy Trains are made by Britisher's in 1903 to maintain a good network of Shimla with other railway routes . These narrow railway gauge run from Shimla to Kalka  , covering a distance of 96km through 103 tunnels , 800 bridges in 5-6 hours . The panoramic view's from the toy train are really unforgetable and that becomes a beautiful lifetime scene .
