HISTORY OF SHIMLA

Shimla is the SUMMER CAPITAL of British India and now a day's the capital of Himachal Pradesh is famous for its tourists attractions , fairs , food and many more things . Shimla is adorned with natural beauty of hills , greenery , and snow .
The Town Shimla was founded by Britisher's in year1819 after the Gorkha war , at that time the place was popular for temple's of Hindu God's . 1. JAKHU HILL
This hill is at the height of 8,000 feet from the sea level . The hill at the top is adorned with SHRI HANUMAN JAKHU TEMPLE . The temple has a giant statue of Lord Hanuman of height 108 meters that is visible from other parts of shimla . The place has it's Religious importance too, according to the local's at this hill lord Hanuman rested on his journey to find SANJEEVNI BOOTI for lord Lakshman during RAMAYANA . The hill also has monkeys that can steal your belongings ( water bottles, bags etc) .
2. BANTONY HILL
The bantony hill is at the height of 7,200 feet from the sea level and named on lord Bantony . The hill is crowned with KALI BARI TEMPLE and the BATONY CASTLE , these two places are most attractive places on this hill despite of intense peace and calmness . The temple was constructed by the local Bengali's residing in the town in 1845 . Bantony castle was constructed in 1880s and named after Lord William Beresford and was later sold to the Maharaja .
3. INVERAM HILL
Inveram hill is at height of 2,380 feet from the sea level. The main tourists attraction on this hill are STATE MUSEUM and BIRD PARK . The state museum showcase historical collection of pahari paintings , traditional customs and jewelry , wood carvings , weapons and armors . This state museum aims to preserve the tradition and culture of Himachal Pradesh .
4. OBSERVATORY HILL
Observatory hill with the height of 7040 feet from the sea level is among one of the highest hill's in Shimla . The hill is famous for the key attraction called IIAS (Indian Institute of Advanced Study) building or VICEREGAL LODGE , the building is well maintained by green and peaceful lawns . The building was constructed between 1884 and 1888 , this serves as the summer residence of the British viceroy of India . The architecture of building was prepared by HENRY IRWIN .
5.PROSPECT HILL
Being at the height of 7070 feet from the sea , the hill offer beautiful panoramic view of mountains , villages . The christ church in Shimla is one of the most beautiful churches among the India. The church is oldest church in India and is protected under the Himachal Pradesh Ancient and Historic monuments and Archaeological sites and remains Act 1976 .It was constructed in 1857 for Anglican British community in Shimla , the credit of such a beautiful architect goes to Colonel J.T.Boileau . The church also has stained glass windows among which one of the window is dedicated to William Prinsep a British Administrator who contributed his way to the study of Indian culture and customs .
2.THE MALL ROAD
Mall Road is among one of the famous and oldest Indian street having its own legacy and importance .
The Mall road was constructed back during the British colonial period for all social and day to day exchanges and activities . For a tourist coming to visit Shimla should have space for Mall Road in his/her list . Mall road is famous for shops that sell's local and traditional items like jewelry, handicraft, cloth , and decorative items . 3. TOY TRAIN
